Entryways are the perfect way to make a statement as soon as someone walks in your home. This is one of the rooms in the house where you can make more bold choices. It is usually a minimally furnished space, so for resale people aren’t really worried about having to match their furniture with an existing color.
They just want the wow factor. So, have some fun here!
Project #1
This entry was all beige. And it looked fine. But it was beige. So, to bring some contrast, I painted all the adjacent walls a light silvery gray and the curved wall a dark charcoal. I was worried it might close in the space too much, but the opposite was true. It made it look larger! Having the contrast broke up the space and actually drew your eyes up. Suddenly you noticed the height of the ceiling and the curve of the wall because it didn’t all blend. It was gorgeous.
Project #2
The before pictures were how the house looked when I bought it. There are beautiful cherry hardwood floors in the entry and family room and the staircase was stained to match. Overall, this made for a lot of red. The walls were a light gray, very similar to what I put in the last house, so I kept them. I added the same charcoal to the front wall, again, to break up the space. I replaced the carpet with a greige color instead of cream. And, the staircase was painted black and white. Very tedious. The painters hated me! But, look how stunning it was when it was done. And, notice how it toned down the red in the floors. A complete transformation in the center of the house.
Project #3
The front of this house was open to the upstairs so the bannister ran across half the house. It was painted white when I moved in. I just wanted to customize it a little and make it less builder grade, so I painted the posts and railing black. Wow, what that a lot to tape off!!! But, it ended up being my favorite thing in the house (until I remodeled the kitchen!). It’s why I did it again in my current home. Black and white is contemporary, yet classic and elegant at the same time. You really can’t go wrong.
Let’s Do This!
Home is the most important place for everyone. It’s where your family memories are made. It’s your reprieve from the outside world. It’s your biggest investment. I’ve been doing this for a long time. Now, it’s time to take what I’m most passionate about to the next level and make an impact on a greater scale. This doesn’t feel like work to me. I love every minute of it. For me, there is no greater feeling than seeing the joy on people’s faces when I can help them create a home they truly love and change their lives in a positive way.
I would love the opportunity to create that for you.
